A New Name: The Fearless Generation

Fear.

Fear is something that everyone deals with at some point in life. In fact, it’s a spiritual reality buried deep within our human nature. You can track it all the way back to Adam and Eve who hid from God in Fear after they sinned in the Garden of Eden. Fear is a powerful, crippling spirit that is operating with full force today. We have become afraid of violence, acceptance, failure, not being good enough, and so much more. But I present this generation with good news: there is a cure.

The Holy Spirit.

Jesus said, “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things all things that I said to you. Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:26-27 NKJV

The World offers Fear, but Jesus Christ offers Peace beyond understanding.

Paul (the older generation) wrote to Timothy (the younger generation) to warn him about Fear. He deemed it necessary to remind Timothy of what God did not instill in him as well as what God did.

“For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” II Timothy 1:7 ESV

And in the same manner, I would like to write to this younger generation today. Let me tell you that God has not given you a spirit of fear. God has given you peace, power, love, and self-control (*a sound mind).

You have what it takes to overcome fear. In fact, I believe that you have what it takes to share what you have learned with your generation.

Question:

What would happen if a generation arose that knew no fear?

We began to wonder what a generation like that could create, change, conquer, transform, and accomplish if fear was no longer the roadblock to purpose.

I would like to introduce you to RUSH.

RUSH is a student conference with a long history of lives changed, dreams realized, miracles, and milestones. It’s for the Christ-followers and the misfits, the well-known and lesser known.

I invite every Student, Student Leader, and Student Pastor to join us on November 9th and 10th in Lancaster, Ohio. We are going to see what happens when an entire generation claims a new name: The Fearless Generation.
