Scripture Focus: Daniel 4:3 – “How great are his signs, how mighty his wonders! His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his dominion endures from generation to generation.”
For the past 2 years, I have had the incredible privilege of taking my First Youth Student Ministries to RUSH. This is an event they talk about for months prior to the event, and they don’t stop talking about it for months after the event. From a perspective of a Student Pastor, RUSH offers opportunities for student engagement and is an event like nothing else in our state. From the moment you walk through the doors, LiveWire students are there high-fiving and welcoming students and leaders from all over Ohio. You feel like you are family. Registration is seamless and easy to navigate, and quite frankly, an amazing price for what the students get and experience for 2 days. I am a firm believer that Ohio has the talent of musicians and singers that could be displayed at General Conference and NAYC, and RUSH delivers nothing but the best musically and vocally each year. What I truly appreciate about the music, being a musician myself, is the fact that the singers and musicians on the RUSH stage are not interested in bringing glory to themselves, rather each and every one of them on the platform are focused and intentional about reflecting the glory of God. Students flood to the altars and bask in the presence of God. For some of these students, this is one of the deepest moments of worship they are able to experience all year. Rush is for this generation.
Preston Keller and the entire RUSH planning teach are obviously fasting and praying as they chose speakers for this event. Every year I have attended, we have heard a divine word from the throne room of God. Hundreds of lives are changed each year with the preaching of the Word. Miracles happen as faith is built. Students are filled with the Holy Ghost when the word of faith goes forth. I have watched as multiple students from my own youth group have been physically shaken by the power of God in these altar calls after hearing the Word of God, and the results have been lasting. Students are not looking for an emotional experience at RUSH. They come expecting a life-changing experience. It is quite apparent that this generation of students do not want entertainment rather they are desiring a divine encounter with God Almighty. RUSH is for this generation.
RUSH is one event of many throughout the year in Ohio, but I believe it is one of the events designed and prepared for this generation. Jesus told his believers in Matthew 24 that THIS generation will not pass until what has been prophesied is fulfilled. I believe the best is yet to come for RUSH and prophecies and promises will be realized. RUSH is designed for this generation so that this generation can change the next generation.
I can’t help but echo the words of Daniel penned
“How great are his signs, how mighty his wonders! His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his dominion endures from generation to generation.”” (Daniel 4:3).
RUSH. IS. FOR. THIS. GENERATION.
